Waterview Villa Resident Celebrates 93rd Birthday with Frank Sinatra/Engelbert Humperdinck Impersonator
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. — 93-year-old Anna Veyera’s birthday wish was to have a Frank Sinatra/Engelbert Humperdinck impersonator perform on her special day.
Thanks to the Connecticut chapter of Twilight Wish Foundation, the Waterview Villa Rehabilitation and Health Care Center resident was granted the performance Friday surrounded by family and friends.
“We’re here to celebrate her birthday in a special way,” Andrea Hoisl, the director of Twilight Wish of Connecticut, said.
Veyera, who has lived at the center since December 2019, is known through the East Providence center as a loving and generous person. She enjoys the music of the two performers and is often listening to them on her CD player. She worked as a dental assistant for more than 20 and also held roles in the Rhode Island Dental Assistant Society including treasurer and president. She is also an award-winning bowler of 63 years. She and her husband, married for more than 65 years, have one daughter, a granddaughter, and three great-grandchildren.
“Anna is the first to reach out to hold anyone’s hand who is struggling and shares her lovely smile with all,” her nominator wrote.
She was treated to chocolate cake, her favorite, and balloons on the surprise day.
The Twilight Wish Foundation also presented Veyera with a certificate of honor and thanks for “maintaining an inspiring and uplifting spirit and dedication to others.”
Twilight Wish of Connecticut has graciously made wishes of other Athena Health Care Systems’ residents come true including donating iPads to residents at Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck, Connecticut in December.
