Update from Administrator – May 29, 2020

I hope everyone is doing well and still following the guidance from the Governor and that you all had a reasonable Memorial Day weekend.  As mentioned in last week, in conjunction with the Rhode Island Department of Health, all residents and staff have been tested for COVID-19.  I realize that a lot of you are trying to be patient and not call the facility, anxiously awaiting word from us.  If your loved one tested positive, you should have been contacted by now.  If you have not heard back from us yet, please contact us at your earliest convenience, and we will give you an individualized update.

The one question that is continuously being asked is how many cases we currently have within our facility.  I have been hesitant to engage in this discussion due to the fact that these numbers are constantly changing.  As tests come back negative, they are considered recovered, and by the time a number is disclosed, it has changed once again.

Please note that there are numerous data reports all over the state and I welcome you to retrieve this information from them, however over the weekend, the Mayor’s office sent out statistics about the area’s nursing centers on social media.  Please be advised that the numbers indicated for Waterview Villa was incorrect.  I have contacted the Mayor’s office to correct this and it will be updated accordingly.

I cannot reiterate enough, that if you feel you are not being given enough information, please contact us directly.  There is already so much happening in the world today and we don’t want to add to anyone’s already full plate.  We are here to answer your questions for you.

In closing, I remind you to stay safe and well.  I wish you all good health and will continue to communicate with you in the spirit of transparency, honesty, and caring about you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,

Marc A. Neustadt, LNHA, Administrator
